Why Choose Us?

The simple fact is that learning an instrument is no easy feat. It can take countless hours of hard work and dedication. Working new muscles, building muscle memory, and memorizing new patterns can be challenging for anyone.

We firmly believe that students need not just a teacher but a friend. A friend to stand by your side through this journey and help hold you accountable when you feel discouraged. Accountability and motivation to push through mental barriers is just the edge our students need to break through any one of the hurdles our students may be facing at that moment.

Above all we value these traits in our students and teachers:

Dedication to your instrument. Responsibility means practicing on your own. Most importantly we require courage. Courage to overcome the fears of failure in moments you feel you want to give up.

Your Denver guitar teacher will teach by these same principles we expect of you. Our instructors are dedicated to their work. Responsibility to show to every single one of their lessons on time and prepared to teach. Finally, our instructors display courage by helping push not only their students, but themselves to become the very best at their instrument and the art of teaching.

We will review the basics of music such as tempo, notes, and songs you may know how to play. If you don’t know how to play anything don’t worry that’s why you’re here! We just need to know exactly where your skill level is at.

Next, we will learn more about you. What kind of music do you like to play? What kinds of songs do you wish you could play?

After your first lesson, we will decide which lesson package will work best for you. Do you want to have half-hour lessons or one-hour lessons? We will discuss pricing at this point as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

We frequently receive calls of questions regarding our guitar lessons and other components to playing guitar. We have compiled the most frequently asked questions for your convenience to help save you time. Please review these questions and answers as your question may be answered right here on our page.

What should I bring to my lessons?

Each student will be given a free folder compiled of their lesson plans and will begin to contain notes from their lesson. We ask each student to bring this to every lesson. We also do not provide instruments for students. Please come prepared with your personal instrument you will be learning.

How long will it take to master my instrument?

The time-frame to learn any instrument really depends on you and how many hours you spend practicing at home. After all, we typically only see our students for half an hour each week. We do recommend a couple of years of lessons at a minimum to become really solid in familiarity and knowledge of your instrument.

What if I discover I do not like the instrument I started learning, can I change instruments?

Of course! You can change at any time. However, we would advise sitting down with your teacher to discover your dislikes and problems with the instrument. It may be as simple as overcoming a single hurdle with a lesson you are currently working on. Our advice, in this case, is don’t give up! You can do it!

What is an amp? Do I need one?

An amp, or amplifier, is a special kind of speaker that picks up the tones from your guitar and plays it louder. If you are playing electric guitar, or bass guitar then yes you will need one. If you are playing acoustic guitar then that is optional for each player. There are acoustic-electric guitars as well as standard acoustic guitars.

What is a metronome? Do I need one?

A metronome is simply a device that helps the musician stay on beat with the tempo they are playing at. A metronome will use clicks or light flashes to indicate the time with the beat. No, they are not a requirement. They are however very useful when it comes to learning scales.

How often will I need to replace my strings?

This depends on how often you play and take care of your strings. There are ways to prolong the life of your strings such as, washing your hands before you play, and cleaning them frequently. You can also ruin your strings by tuning them from low to high tunings often.

How much are guitar lessons?

Pricing for your lessons will depend on which lesson package you choose. We offer half-hour lessons as well as hour-long lessons.

Customer Testimonials

I cannot give enough praise to Denver Guitar Lessons! My instructor has been there to help me every step of the way. He always offers an encouraging word when things get tough and celebrates my triumphs as much as I do. Thank you Denver Guitar Lessons!

Barry S.

At first, I was skeptical about learning the bass guitar. I had never touched an instrument in my life and was convinced I would never find good guitar teachers near me. Wow was I wrong. It turned out all I needed was a great teacher by my side. Now I can create riffs on the spot with my church band without having to think about it.

Katie R.

When I first started with my guitar teacher in Denver I was pretty nervous. Not only was I moving to a brand new city but I was convinced I would never learn to play guitar let alone master it the way I have. Being in a new city, I have made tons of friends with my teachers and other students. We even started a band and have been playing shows all in two years!
